The end of a Plastic Era?

Unless you've been backpacking through a remote jungle or are still in the denial phase (mine lasted a good couple of days) it will not have escaped your attention that Plastic People, one of London's most treasured venues, is under threat. The council are reviewing its license on the grounds that it has, apparently, 'failed to prevent public disorder and nuisance'.

Caribou- Odessa

Caribou's 'Andorra' from 2007 will soundtrack my dream Summer if I ever actually get round to having it. It still serves as a great tool of inspiration for me, so take it as read that I was really happy to hear Caribou (formerly Manitoba) and his band are set to release their next album 'Swim' on April 20th 2010. Judging by the video below, the lads have stepped up to the plate again with a sound that remembers the warmth of their previous opus and also evolves confidently in a bolder direction.

lcd soundsystem- trailers

James Murphy and co. have kindly opened the gates to the DFA mansion for a series of videos that show what life with LCD Soundsystem is like. These album prequels confirm that life is not fair. As if their music wasn't good enough, we now have to live with the knowledge that they make their beats in a mansion studio with stockpiled synths almost falling out of the windows. There's also the added luxury of a swimming pool so Mr. Murphy can cool down should he ever get his disco knickers in a twist.

Tranqill- Deadly Wintaz

After months of murmurings about this elusive producer and MC, a video has finally surfaced of 'Deadly Wintaz' by Tranqill, One Handed Music's latest offering. Raw as hell, his edgy delivery sits perfectly with DJ IQ's production, with shrill, distant strings underpinned by a distinctly lo-fi boom and bap that reminds us of the RZA back when he had a fire in his belly.

Lukid- Hair Of The Dog

A video has recently surfaced of new material from {Work:Ethic} favourite Lukid. It's a song called 'Hair Of The Dog' and it's a slice bass-heavy goodness that has us bouncing in our seats. The video itself throws up a few questions- where are they going? Who are they? How long did it take to get this single shot right?

Sonar Bump

Here we go with the first proper post in the new {work:ethic} blog.

At the risk of sounding like the biggest bummers of the big man, here is a mix from Theo Parrish that boasts the kind of bumping track selection and over eq'ing that has been torturing us poor London souls who just can't abstain from his monthly beatdowns. Enjoy!
