"Getting paid to come up with new ridiculous names for new styles of music would be ace."

The media is resorting to increasingly ridiculous labels for the diversifying electronic music scene. Do you have any personal suggestions for people to adopt whilst referring to your music?
Nah, I think they have a lot of fun coming up with new names, so just let them I reckon... I think if I had their job I'd find it quite funny. Getting paid to come up with new ridiculous names for new styles of music would be ace. Artists seem to get well pissed off about it too. I honestly couldnt care less personally. Sadly, the only one I've ever had a real problem with is 'wonky' - typically that's the one i'm labelled with as well. Nevermind though. I did hear a good one some people from a website came up with for my shit recently actually - 'dream hop' not too bad, that one. So I'd probably use that one as my suggestion because I can't be bothered to come up with anything original.
I have to ask....are you are a hardware or software man? How did you learn to produce?
Still learning, constantly learning new things with every tune I do. Think it'd be time to quit if I wasnt learning anything new. I use a little bit of software and a little bit of hardware. Stupidly basic set up.
There's a song called 'Karen Loves Kate' on the album. Are they chuffed to be mentioned? And do they love each other?
Sadly, I've never actually met Karen or Kate. They seem very much in love though. Highly doubt they even know they're mentioned. I might email them after this actually- I'll let you know if i get a reply.
Has film been an influence on your sound?
Yeah man, very much so. Nothing particularly cool or interesting though, just my favourite films from when I was young. I guess my brain just soaked those soundtracks up and have stayed with me 'cause that would have been the first lot of music I ever heard. Basically there's parts of music in 'The Goonies' and 'ET' that have influenced me ridiculously.
What's next for you?
Hopefully I'll release lots of music in 2010 and maybe even earn a bit of money...not holding out for the latter though. Certainly lots of new music though- a whole different style to what people will have become used to from me. I look forward to new media labels for all my new music in 2010!
